Sydney Beer Co. was founded in Australia in 2016. A premium Australian lager, all-natural, preservative-free, brewed with Galaxy hops for the clean, crisp finish Sydneysiders would be proud to call their own. The brand grew into 350+ Sydney venues, became co-owned by Australian cricket legend Brett Lee and actor-writer Matt Nable, and by 2024 was ready for a bet most Australian breweries never take seriously. A full-scale launch into the United States market, the first Australian beer to be brewed and distributed stateside in over 50 years.
Sydney Beer Co. is one of five verticals across the Greywater Capital portfolio. Our work on it came through that relationship, and our scope was specifically the US expansion. We produced the market-entry materials for an Australian product walking into the most competitive beer market in the world. Brand positioning that could hold its own against American craft. Retail collateral for BevMo, Total Wine, and the independent bottle shop channel. Investor materials for the US-side capital. We coordinated with master brewer Dan Gordon at California's Gordon Biersch Brewery, who produced the US version of the lager, and the distribution partners Straub in Orange County and Los Angeles and Brown Bag Beverage in San Diego.
The US launch landed. Sydney Beer Co. USA grew to over 600 accounts in Southern California within 18 months. The Australian parent entity went into administration in March 2025, which does not involve the US entity. The US operation is privately held separately and remains active. What Sydney Beer Co. proves about our studio is specific to beverage and consumer goods. We can take a regional product into a new geography and produce the materials that get it onto shelves, into distributors' portfolios, and into the right channel accounts. That is a very particular skill set, different from capital work or hospitality, and one we have now done end-to-end.

We produced the full US market-entry package. Brand positioning tuned for American retail and on-premise audiences. Retail collateral for BevMo, Total Wine, and independent bottle shops. Packaging direction for the stateside-brewed product. Investor materials for US-side capital. Distributor-facing sales decks for Straub and Brown Bag Beverage. Every touchpoint a beer brand needs to walk into a new country and ask for shelf space.
